Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine - Whittington - London
Whittington Health NHS Trust are searching for an experienced and passionate Clinical Fellow (FY3/ST1 Level) in Emergency Medicine to join their highly skilled team.

About The Role:
The post holder will work as a Foundation Year 3 doctor within the Emergency Department. The successful applicant will join a committed team in a forward-thinking Emergency Department.
The post will offer a wide range of experience in all aspects of both Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine and would be suitable for those planning a career in either hospital-based specialities or General Practice.
The post holder will receive regular departmental and simulation-based teaching.
They will be assigned an educational supervisor and can take part in departmental audits. As a department we value staff wellness and have recently run a successful initiative to promote and facilitate staff taking their allocated breaks.
We are looking for doctors with at least 4 months experience working in an ED at FY2 level or above or 4 months experience working in a dedicated acute medical ward, preferably in the NHS.
We will also consider individuals who have spent time in other specialty training programmes, if, on the application form they demonstrate familiarity with the demands of working in Emergency Medicine particularly with regards to the challenges of patient flow and maintain government targets.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
This job is ideal for a person who is looking to gain more experience in Emergency medicine or who is considering a career in the specialty.
The role will provide the successful applicant with further experience in a busy department with a varied and challenging case mix.
It would also suit someone contemplating a future career in Emergency Medicine.
The successful applicant will be involved in the initial assessment and management of patients.
They will benefit from clinical leadership from Emergency Department Middle Grades and the ED Consultants.
They will participate in the FY2/JCF rota working a full shift pattern.
Research interests and involvement in audit projects will be encouraged.
There are regular weekly and monthly meetings held in the hospital’s Postgraduate Centre. Programmes are regularly circulated.
There is also an ongoing Emergency Department teaching programme.
The Emergency Department Consultants are committed to the supervision and development of this post.
All post holders will have a consultant allocated as their Educational Supervisor for the duration of the post.
Requirements:
Applicants must have full GMC membership.
The applicant must have achieved a primary medical qualification as recognised by the General Medical Council.
The applicant must be familiar with and be able to demonstrate an understanding and experience of the major principles of the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2012)
Have one of the following;
- At least 4 months experience in emergency medicine at FY2 level or above.
- At least 4 months experience working in a dedicated acute medical ward.
- Worked in a training programme and can demonstrate in the application form.
Understanding of the demands of working in Emergency Medicine with regards to patient flow and government targets.
Experience of either 4 months Emergency medicine and Acute medicine or critical care
3/12 experience in UK ED or equivalent.
Demonstrates a passion for emergency medicine such as conference attendance / relevant audits or related specialties.
